An Interview With CanvasRebel

Recently we had the opportunity to collaborate with CanvasRebel, and answer a few questions about our small business. CanvasRebel is focused on highlighting the stories of creatives, artists, and entrepreneurs across the nation. To say we are honored to be featured is an understatement! You can check out the article on their website, or read about it below!

Jayla & Brandi, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s start big picture – what are some of biggest trends you are seeing in your industry?
Through the whirlwind of planning a wedding amidst a global pandemic, we believe that we are seeing a newly imagined focus when it comes to 2022 weddings. Couples now more than ever, are investing more time and attention to small details that help to bring out their love and individuality. These trends are reflective of the passion and intention that we see in our newlyweds!

From a florist’s perspective, even more exciting things are coming! We are eager to see more large-scale custom floral installations featuring rich greenery with unique blooms and foliage. Based on our own brides, these types of arrangements can vary in size and design, but each is custom-made with their personal vision in mind. From intimate ceremony spaces to whimsical dance floors, these arrangements will be sure to blow your guests away! Another trend that we have observed is the incorporation of texture and textured glass to tablescapes. These timeless choices prove to make any dining setting romantic and elevated. If I had to create a name for this style, I might consider “approachable luxury”, as the elements themselves are classic, but presented in a new, refreshing light.

No matter the trend or design, Blushington Blooms is dedicated to producing quality and elegant floral arrangements and decor for your upcoming events. Our team spends a great deal of our time researching trends and coming up with ways to offer our bride’s the most current designs that reflect their inspirations.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
Blushington Blooms is a wedding florist offering locations in Fort Worth and Dallas, TX. Our designers specialize in light, airy styles, and work to incorporate unique textures and colors wherever possible. From your centerpieces to your arch, we will use our fresh blooms to turn your venue into a romantic, visually rich setting.

Owners and sister-in-laws Jayla and Brandi Metts have been running Blushington Blooms for over six years, and love working closely with soon-to-be-weds. We have a devoted team that makes your vision our main priority, and we will use our creative design skills to give your nuptial theme a timeless touch. In the months leading up to your big day, they will go above and beyond to help you achieve your dream day.

Blushington Blooms was born out of a passion for serving others, and bringing their creative visions to life. Owners and founders, Jayla and Brandi, both came from very different professional backgrounds, but joined forces and have successfully grown the business to serve over hundreds of clients all over the DFW metroplex.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Starting your own business comes with many challenges, but nothing could have prepared us for how the COVID-19 pandemic would alter our lives. Individuals in the event and wedding industry faced uncertainty like never before, and we personally felt extremely disheartened for our wonderful clients, employees, and other vendors. We knew that this global event impacted each and every person, so we made it our number one priority to bend over backwards for our brides to ensure that when their wedding day did finally arrive, they would have seamless and beautiful nuptials.

In 2020 alone, we postponed an unprecedented 33 weddings; but came back stronger than ever, eager to serve our brides! We are incredibly fortunate and grateful to be able to say that we are still in business and providing brides with the highest quality experience that we can offer. In fact, we have gone above and beyond since the pandemic, and are proud to say that we have grown! In the last two years, we have moved from a 1200 square foot studio, to a 3000 square foot space that boasts it’s very own warehouse! We have also opened a secondary office location in Dallas so that we can better serve the Dallas area. These upgrades have helped us to accommodate more events than ever before.

Even today the floral industry, along with many others, is experiencing shortages and supply chain issues. Each day provides its own unique challenges, but our team at Blushington holds an unwavering commitment to putting forth the best product for our clients and their visions. We feel that our core values have never been stronger, and we are so thrilled for the upcoming wedding season!

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
From the very beginning, we designed our business with our clients in mind. We feel that this attribute contributes to our reputation amongst our clients, as they can fully count on us to deliver a brilliant service. We make it a priority to go above and beyond for each and every customer that we have the honor of working with by tirelessly honing our design skills and industry knowledge to provide the best floral designs in the market; as well as researching and sourcing products and rentals from the best wholesalers, farms, and suppliers in the world.

Our main goal is to make sure that each and every person that works with us knows that they are valued, and we refuse to ignore any issues or complications. If necessary, we will do whatever it takes to come to a resolution, because integrity is critical to any business.

Again, thank you to CanvasRebel for covering our business. We are so grateful for each and every client and person who supports us! We couldn’t be in this incredible industry without your love, trust, and support.
